Call for an appointment: Mondays through Fridays 9am - 2pm.

 

Grand Prairie United Charities
provides the following services:

Rent/Mortgage Assistance
Utility Assistance (electric, gas, water)
Prescription/Medication Assistance
Information and Referrals

SNAP Assistance
(formerly known as food stamps)

The North Texas Food Bank Education & Outreach Coordinator will be at Grand Prairie United Charities, every Wednesday, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to provide application assistance for Food Stamps, TANF, CHIP, Medicaid, Women’s Health and Qualified Medicare Beneficiaries (QMB).

The Coordinator will give you and application and help you fill it out. Your questions will be answered about Food Stamps and the other programs listed. All children with social security numbers may qualify, regardless of their parents’ citizenship status.

People and Nutrition (PAN)
People and Nutrition is a commodity supplemental program providing nutritious foods at no cost to qualified participants. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Texas Department of Human Services, North Texas Food Bank, Catholic Charities of Dallas, Inc. and Grand Prairie United Charities.
Who is eligible for the PAN Program?

    Pregnant women
    Breastfeeding / postpartum women
    Infants (0 -1 years old)
    Children (1 - 5 years old)
    Senior citizens age 60 and older

All eligible participants must live in Grand Prairie and must meet governmental guidelines.  You do not have to be a U.S. citizen to be eligible.

WIC participants are NOT eligible for PAN.

People and Nutrition (PAN) is distributed the first Thursday of every month between the hours of 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
