Financial Help Provided: Housing Rent Payments, Utility Bill Payment

Full Description:

House of Hope is a nonprofit agency, founded in 1984, that provides food, clothing, emergency financial assistance and life-changing case management services to Martin County residents.

The Emergency Financial Assistance Program offers temporary financial assistance. It is designed to pay critical bills when families and individuals are struggling for stability at times of crisis.

The EFA program most often helps with housing payments and utility bills, and it targets Martin County residents who work hard but suddenly find themselves unable to make ends meet.  Typically, EFA clients are low-wage workers, low fixed-income seniors, single parents, and people facing a sudden life crisis (divorce, abandonment, abuse, death in the family, major medical issue, etc.).

In today’s disastrous economic climate, many clients are newly unemployed middle-class wage earners who have exhausted their personal resources. They are suddenly desperate and unfamiliar with services and benefits that may be available to them. House of Hope can help them with short-term assistance as well as long-term guidance and counseling through its case management program.

Contact this office to see if you qualify for assistance. Office hours: Mondays through Fridays 9am - 4pm.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
