Full Description:

Office hours: Mondays through Fridays 9am to 5pm.

Several different programs run by DSS offer financial assistance for families in financial crisis. The Crisis Intervention Program provides assistance for adults with children (up to age 18, or 19 if he/she is enrolled full-time in high School) on a first come, first serve basis. This money can only be used to help pay rent, heating costs, electric bills, and other one-time necessary expenses. The assistance must alleviate the emergency. The Domestic Violence Assistance program provides assistance for victims of domestic violence. Families must be at or below 200% of poverty to qualify. Funds may help pay for rent, shelter, and counseling. Families already receiving WFFA are not eligible. The Low Income Energy Assistance Program provides for a one-time payment to help eligible families pay their heating bills. Applications are taken for two weeks in November each year. The payment is usually received in February each year.

Contact during office hours Mondays through Fridays 8am - 5pm to see if you qualify for assistance.

Tips For Prompt And Professional Assistance
1. Make an appointment - Always attempt to make an appointment. Oftentimes this will save you hours waiting in lines. When on the phone make sure you ask for the documentation needed in order to receive assistance.

2. Do not be late for your appointment - This tip should speak for itself.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
