Full Description:

Serves Madison, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties. Provides emergency financial assistance to families in need with utilities, firewood, rent, food, and clothing. Also provides food and drink to workers during emergency services fighting fires, floods, drownings, etc. Provides emergency food, clothing, electric, fuel, prescriptions, and rent assistance to disaster victims and crisis intervention counseling, spiritual guidance, and emotional support for disaster victims and workers. Food pantry is open on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m.

Office hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday - 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Hours may vary; Best day is Wednesday Food Pantry: Second and fourth Wednesday of the month 9:00a.m - 12:00p.m.; 24 hour answering machine.

3. Dress appropriately - If you want to be treated with respect, dress as appropriately as possible. We are not saying wear a suit. Just make sure you and your clothes are clean and non offensive. We have found that clients who dress in this manner have a better chance of receiving aid.

4. Bring all pre determined documentation - Bring all of the documents you were advised to bring from your appointment phone call. Without them, you will not receive aid.
